Public Safety First Aid Training Program

Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness EMT Certification

 

While attending our basic Public Safety First Aid Training Program you will learn the skills needed to save a life. Commonly courses of this nature are referred to as "first responder training".  This training meets California EMSA Title 22 approved standards. The instruction you receive in this program will provide you with the fundamental skill set required to provide emergency medical care as an EMT, Firefighter or Police Officer. This course is also appropriate for anyone looking to learn more than just basic first aid. While attending this program you will learn how to properly perform techniques such as CPR, learn how to use an AED, understand how to recognize and react to common medical emergencies. We also teach skills such as personal safety, body substance isolation, working as team, how to immobilize traumatically injured patients, what to expect when working with professional EMS teams and more. This course is developed with prospective EMS workers in mind.  Our intention is deliver realistic training to the next generation of EMS professionals.

Whether you’re looking for the basics to protect your family on a short camping trip or you want to have peace of mind on that week long excursion to Alaska; we have the course for you!  We offer the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) Wilderness Emergency Care programs.  You can choose from the following options; to fit your time, needs and budget.

 

 

Basic Wilderness First Aid is an 10 hour course for those who are involved in wilderness recreation. This course may also meet the needs of volunteers and professionals who lead groups on short trips in relatively low-risk situations.

 

Wilderness First Aid is a 20 hour course for those who are involved in more serious wilderness adventures. This course is recommended for wilderness trip leaders and guides.

 

Wilderness First Responder is a 80 hour course for wilderness professionals and others who need a higher level of training or require Wilderness First Responder certification.

 

Wilderness EMT Upgrade is a 40 hour course for those who are already certified as EMTs. The course builds on EMT training and adds wilderness concepts and skills with many role-playing scenarios.
